Jane’s Place staff has a strong commitment to supporting the health and well being of children and to providing a safe a healthy environment for children, staff, families and visitors. As part of our commitment to children's well being we recognise the importance of positive health, including the active promotion of healthy choices in nutrition. All of our meals are prepared and cooked on each premises by a trained cook. Our menus provide a wide range of suitable foods including recommended amounts from the five food groups. Cultural preferences of families and other special diets are accommodated as much as possible and in consultation with the cook. Care is taken to accommodate the needs of children with food allergies with a "nut free" environment being provided. Fresh foods are used in preference to processed foods with main dishes being low in sugars, salt and preservatives. Meal times are treated as social occasions that support positive, healthy attitudes to the enjoyment of food and reflect the cultural backgrounds of children & their families, the staff and the community. We also support local grocers by buying farm picked fruit and vegetables. Our meat comes from Glenmore Meat Company with chicken being hormone free and our eggs being organic and enriched with Omega 3. |
